Adenosine as a signaling molecule in the retina: biochemical and developmental aspects Anais da ABC (AABC)
PAES-DE-CARVALHO,ROBERTO.
The nucleoside adenosine plays an important role as a neurotransmitter or neuromodulator in the central nervous system, including the retina. In the present paper we review compelling evidence showing that adenosine is a signaling molecule in the developing retina. In the chick retina, adenosine transporters are present since early stages of development before the appearance of adenosine A1 receptors modulating dopamine-dependent adenylate cyclase activity or A2 receptors that directly activate the enzyme. Experiments using retinal cell cultures revealed that adenosine is taken up by specific cell populations that when stimulated by depolarization or neurotransmitters such as dopamine or glutamate, release the nucleoside through calcium-dependent...

Effect of adenosine concentration on quality of cooled ram semen R. Bras. Zootec.
Bezerra,Andréia Santana; Nascimento,Thialla Emille Costa do; Castilho,Erick Fonseca de; Gonçalves,Natália Larissa Cunha; Silva,Sillas Matteus Batista Soares da; Cardoso,Aline Serrão; Souza,Heloíse Karine Rolim de; Rodrigues,Luiz Fernando de Souza.
ABSTRACT This study analyzed the adenosine concentration on quality of ram semen in different refrigerated storage times at 5 °C. The design was in blocks with repeated-measures factorial design. Five levels of adenosine and four refrigeration times were considered as fixed effects and the animal as random effect (block). Ram semen was diluted with Andromed® diluent (control) and increasing adenosine levels (0.5, 0.75, 1, and 1.5%). The samples were taken from refrigeration after 4, 8, 12, and 16 h and evaluated for progressive rectilinear sperm motility, sperm vigor, and membrane integrity (supravital test). Data were subjected to analysis of variance with Tukey's test. The regression analysis was conducted to evaluate behavior of adenosine levels. Factor...

Influence of Treg cells and HBV genotype on sustained response and drug resistance in the treatment with nucleoside drugs BJMBR
Zhang,Y.R.; Li,B.; Wang,C.X.; Zhou,N.; Qi,W.; Li,X.L.; Wu,L.Y.; Wei,S.F.; Zhang,Y.D..
We aimed to investigate the influence of regulatory T cells including CD4+CD25+, CD8+CD28- and hepatitis B virus (HBV) genotype on sustained virological response and tolerance of nucleoside drugs. One hundred and thirty-seven patients were enrolled. Lamivudine was administered to 84 patients. Entecavir was administered to the other 53 patients. Before treatment, biochemical tests, HBV DNA load, HBV serum level, HBV genotype, PB CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, CD4+CD25+/CD3+, and CD8+CD28-/CD3+ frequencies were measured. Based on HBV DNA loads after 4 weeks of therapy, patients were divided into response group and suboptimal response group. The lamivudine group received treatment continuously, and then patients were categorized into non-resistance group and resistance...
